one of my favorite quotes ever is: "a dream is an answer to a question that the mind hasn't learned how to ask". so what the crap, I ask you, is the question attached to this dream?!?
to help you follow this:
italics are my commentary on the story
bold is actual dialogue that I'm astounded I remember
regular text is narration...lol.
it all starts in a labrynth of a hotel while myself, my parents, and a random group of people that I don't know are all being chased by a monster that looks rather like Sully from Monsters, Inc. my brother is with us too, but it's not the 21 year old brother...it's more like the 7 year old brother from years ago.
suddenly, I look to one side of me, and notice that being chased with us are both Mulder and Scully (from the X-files). (ok...now even the dream version of me thinks this is a little bizarre, but hey I figure maybe they can help us out.) suddenly Mulder yells out as he takes a side corridor in this hotel:
Mulder: hey! I have an idea! everybody follow me, I think I know how we can get rid of this monster.
he and Scully take off down the hall, while the rest of the group come to a dead-stop momentarily while contemplating following them. I'm confident that Mulder and Scully know how to defeat this monster:
me: come on everybody, let's follow them. it's only a side corridor and the monster is right on our heels (even my dream is on cue as the monster roars freakishly close)
random group person: uuh no! they don't have a clue and we're better off if we stick together. besides...they're both crazy!!!
me: no they're not! they do this every week. if anybody knows how to defeat this thing, it's Mulder (anybody notice how I didn't mention Scully??)
well...the group decides we're not following the FBI team and since they are out of sight by this time, I have to follow the rest of the group or risk being eaten by this unknown monster. by this time, my mother, for whatever reason has taken charge of the group and decides she knows what to do.
mom: I have an idea! everybody follow me (wait, isn't this what Mulder said too?) I know where we can get rid of the monster
the group decides to follow my mother as she leads them through the hotel. up one floor and down another. at one point we even get into the elevator just as the monster gets to it. until finally we reach a looong hallway with a strange box thing at the end of it. we keep running as fast as we can with the monster right on our heels. (I have no clue how he got to the floor we were on. maybe took the elevator?) as we get to the end of the hall, I notice that the box is actually a washing machine. I have no clue how this is going to help, but my mom apparently does - or so I think. she lifts up the lid and yells:
mom: everybody into the washing machine!! HURRY!
they all pile into the washing machine...........and dissapear. my mother suddenly starts laughing very strangely and jumps into the machine too, leaving me staring at the appliance with the monster still running at me. I open up the lid and discover that it's not really a washing machine...it's a vortex of some kind.
by this time, the monster is almost on me so I make a quick decision to go find Mulder and Scully. (I guess being chased by an unknown monster through a confusing hotel is preferrable to jumping into an unknown washing-machine-vortex) I dash down a nearby corridor thinking:
me: ok...now where the heck could they be? they were going to get rid of the monster, but how would they do that..................OH WAIT! I KNOW!!! (why I didn't know about this particular option sooner, is still puzzling me)
so I run through the hotel until I find the hallway with the trap door in the ceiling. I yank open the trap door and climb the stairs. I'm greeted with a flashlight shining in my eyes.
Mulder: where is the rest of the group?
me: they....uh....got stuck.
I look around at the attic like room we're in
me: where are we and why the heck are we here?
Mulder: the monster can't go into small spaces. if we stay here and he finds us then as he tries to climb the ladder he'll disappear.
Scully: uuh, Mulder? I don't think this space is small enough. we can both stand up in here, so I think he'll be fine here too.
Mulder: CRAP! you're right. we have to find somewhere else. this was the only place in the hotel I know that would even be close to small enough. I'm out of ideas.
me: uuhh..I might have one but we'd have to make a run for it.
Mulder and Scully: ok let's go.
we all climb down the ladder, into the hallway and come face to face with the monster. somehow we all manage to turn on our heels and make a run for it to the elevators. once we get there, Mulder pushes the button for the elevator and it opens. as we climb in, the monster almost gets Scully. (again, with the trying to get rid of Scully bit) after a few seconds, we get to the floor, and the hall, with the washing machine. the monster is again right behind us. (at this point I'm wondering if the monster can teleport since he never gets out of an elevator) as we're running down the hall, Mulder asks:
Mulder: where are we going?
me: you'll see. it's right at the end of this corridor.
Mulder: will it work?
by this time, we've reached the washing machine and they're both looking at me like I'm crazy.
me: JUST OPEN IT!
Mulder opens the lid and Scully and I duck behind the machine. the monster is running full force down the hall and Mulder has his gun drawn. he's apparently using himself as bait. the monster comes closer....and closer....and just at the last second, Mulder steps to one side, reaches down and grabs the monster by the legs to make him fall into the washing-machine-vortex/small space.
but....just as the monster is about to fall in............................................my alarm went off
I'm still not sure where it came from, or why my mother was the one pushing strangers into the vortex. all I know is.....oh wait....I don't know ANYTHING. lol.
anyways....in more normal news...Celine left today. it was sad, but it had been a really good visit. I got to go to the airport with them, which was fun. it was also really amusing because there was some little girl that stared at me for like 15 minutes.
we were all three sitting on a bench, but this girl was just staring at me. she would get up and walk around for a couple seconds, then come back, squat on the floor and just stare. I finally just looked at her, said "HI" and freaked her right out. it was so funny.
and on that note...I'm done. for those of you who actually read through my dream story - you are total troopers and I hope it amused you completely.
