I didn't sign up for this war!

Yesterday, i found this article through The Pervocracy. Very interesting.

And today I walked by a newsstand and found a magazine (Superinteressante, brazilian, in portuguese) wich the main article was "Men VS Women: why are they (men) being left behind?". First I thought, either this could be complementary piece to the other article I had read earlier or, more likely, one that says men are stupid and women are winning the Great Gender War. First option would make me happy, second option at least would give me something to talk about.

I've skimmed through it when I got home and it turns out to be none, actually. It debated a lot more gender roles than I'd expected and talked about how men and women are raised differently - paying more attention to the lack of assertiveness people impose on girls, not really talking about male issues, but would probably be too much to ask and I should be happy the article wasn't about how a vagina just makes you more focused and a penis turns you into a jerk.

What really caught my attention was the title. Men VS Women. Usually, when we talk about feminism or men's rights, or even when we just talk about men and women and our relationships in general it just seems we're trying to recruit people for a war that was really not supposed to exist. Are we really against each other still?

Maybe not war, but a very unhealthy competition with everybody trying to grab rights and take them away from each other and call this fairness and equality (both men and women on both sides). When will we start working together to actually get somewhere?

PS: still learning english.. If grammar made you cringe, let me know.
