Well, are you talking about doing a postgraduate course or an undergraduate one?

I'm not sure what you mean by behind- I am guessing you haven't read lots and lots of feminist theory? That's fine, neither have I. I don't think you have to have read lots and lots of theory to study gender, feminist history, or anything related to those subjects. All of my feminism comes from activism that I am engaged in.

If you wanted to find someone you like who you want to be your dissertation supervisor, I would try to find journals and articles or books written by feminist academics whose research areas and political voices appeal to you.

If you want a good gender/women's studies program though, I'm not very familiar with HE in Seattle anymore, so I can't be of much help... however you could always take a one-off class to see if you're into it before leaping into a degree. :)

My brother is catching up on some credits at NSCC, and he likes it alright. It's a lot cheaper than a university class or module would be, here's a link that might help you...

i agree with cadetsandkings that looking into your favorite authors and their education might work; also emailing them for advice.

i actually think a lot of what's formalized as "theory" in gender studies is fucked up and in need of an overhaul.
