How She Move - review

Apr 13, 2009 16:03

In my sicky state, I watched How She Move because I LOVE a good dance film.  Sometimes the worse the plot and dialogue, the better.  I'm happy to report that How She Move was actually surprising in a good way.  Early thoughts...

1/ I loved hearing Caribbean Toronto on-screen.  Many people on imdb's review site weren't sure where this film was ( Read more... )

I too love dance movies, even those with probably the most painful dialog ever written. Although I have to draw the line at In the Mix with Usher which did not have near enough dancing to balance the painfulness of the film. Anyway, I read this and sneaked into the netflix queue to request it. Now the netflix queue is the domain of my partner because, truth be told, I request bad movies. I thought I had got away with it since it is next in line and last night he totally found me out! I knew when I heard "Janell! What is this?!" from the computer room ;-) So... long story short, I hope to have my own thoughts to share soon but there may be a delay. Thanks for writing about it :-)

Sneaky netflix, I love it!
We should share crappy dance movie recs. I've never seen that Usher one. I've been socialized to like these movies - case in point, my favourite movies when I was a kid were Grease 2 and Staying Alive. Somehow I saw these terrible sequels years before I saw the original. I'm also the proud owner of films such as Honey, Coyote Ugly and that B2K movie.

Center Stage is probably my all time favorite - you've seen that one right?

ooh that's a good one. that's a good example of a film where the leads are clearly excellent dancers but terrible actors
