Someone moved into the apartment next door to me...the guy hasn't even been there a month and I just got awakened by a SCREAMING PUPPY that's locked out on his back porch. I heard it earlier today and this evening, but didn't realize where it was coming from

I thought that was one of the stray dogs from the empty lot next to us... But I didn't even know the previous people next to you moved out!

I do have to agree with you somewhat on the noise of dogs vs. the noise of cats: Ninja cried a lot when he was in your bathroom and you were worried about complaints from your neighbors, also we both know how loud cats in heat can get. But I never heard Ninja from your bathroom, of course.

But nevermind any of that... the more I live in apartment complexes the more hardcore I am regarding their rules. If some mofo is gonna come in here and not pay the pet deposit that *I* had to, then fuck 'em. This person thought they could not claim a pet then leave it outside when they were at work? Dumbass.

And when you live in an apartment, cats ARE a big difference from dogs. Cats use litter boxes, can stay inside their entire lives & be calm & peaceful. Dogs *can* be paper trained, but they NEED to get out and run and play and exercise - and when the owner is away at work they need to be trained to stay

I had a neighbor who did that last year. They moved out but only after the pup got bigger. They were not that close to me, but omg! The sound was atrocious!

That's just one more reason I don't think I'd ever buy a house or townhome...you never know what's going to move in next to you and if there aren't any rules in place (like there are here), they can leave a screaming dog to scream and annoy the fuck out of everyone and there's not much anyone can do.

And yes, it's very close to sounding like someone's beating a little kid.
