My PhD proposal got lost in the Christmas post. I found this out when I went to Central Saint Martins' Research Office to ask them aboout the progress of my application. Whether this steadfast rule is breast-related, as I have heard mooted, I honestly haven't a clue, but it might prove a useful starting-point.

I have no idea what the answer to any of these things may be. Yet. I hope to know in 5/7 years time. And if I do and can explain it, you will all have to call me doctor. I think I will have earned it.

In the mid 1980s, the acclaimed writer Laura Thompson dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina - but a growth spurt left her too big for her tu-tu, and she said goodbye to the ballet.
In 2004, when Laura started writing a book about the subject, she decided to join an amateur ballet company. Cameras follow Laura as she prepares to make her first public performance in more than 20 years.
