What is Biennale? Is that the carnivale? We went last year, had an amazing time.

The Biennale is an annual exhibition. It may sound contradictory with the word Biennial but that is due to the fact that architecture and art get a year each. What's unique to the Biennale is the fact that the representation is through national pavilions at the Giardini. You get the most incongruous things like a Czechoslovakian* pavilion, a Welsh pavilion or even a Manchester pavilion. If you go on press days, you get invited to all these parties where free prosecco runs like the water in the canals!!

*it took me 3 gos and a google search to find out the spelling of this damned word!
