yeah that happens to me, but are you positive you weren't sleeping? cuz when it happens to me, usually i think i sort of doze off because my consciousness is definitely on some different level. for example, the other day matussi was giving notes and he was talking about who should you consult about putting yr parent in a nursing home or some bullshit. and he was listing "friends, family, experts, clergy..." but in MY head, it was like. he was giving this lingerie demonstration to the class and he wanted us to buy it from him, and he like was lifting up like these skanky little pieces of lingerie hanging on hangers as he said "friends, family, experts, clergy..." and i was like "uhm, WHAT?" but then i snapped back into it cuz my purse fell and made a loud noise and i was just like "ooooh. uhm. okay." it really really weirded me out. but yeah, your church thing reminded me of that. o_O

day dreaming is like meditating but its a lot different.

I took a Psychology class that taught a lot about this subject:

During a day dream - one can be adventurous in way that would not be in meditation. One has control of events in day dreaming - which is a good and safe place for people who do not have control of their lives - to play out various roles. In meditation, you watch and wait for answers. In day dreaming you create the illusion, but that is how we manifest in the first place. In meditation and night dreaming one generally gets the information once - and has little control over it - (unless one can lucid dream) - whereas in day dreaming one can bring the scenario back over and over again - as needed.

Often creative people - musicians, artists, writers - go into their own daydream-like state when they are creating - allowing only the info to come through the right side of the brain. This is especially true when people channel through the arts - or do automatic writing or art.
