Fannish regression and miscellany

*Was X-Files fandom always so rife with first person stories and a frustratingly high angst to Ridonkulous Mulder Wit ratio?

*TeeVee this year is making me totally creeped out by antlers.

*I have therapy tomorrow for the first time in awhile. I'm going to have to talk about Star Trek.

First person? I don't remember.

Angst? Holy bejeebus, yes. MulderTorture was it's own genre. And the "got to" Scully-fic rec was some angsty marathon that I never managed to read all the way through.

It reminds me of what we were talking about re: romance novels - how it's easier to lay on the angst than create something meaningful with a wider emotional palette. And the thing is: yes, there was plenty of angst on the X-Files, but it was liberally tempered with levity.

(Also, I should have remembered that you would be a fount of X-philic info, given your screenname.)

Years ago, when I first started seeing this therapist, I had to give her a bit of a fandom primer. Heh.

She told me once that people talk about TV in sessions with her ALL THE TIME.
