yeah, I'm going to talk about the x-files again

*Every time I watch "The Red and Black" I am re-shocked into a slash-induced speechless state when Krycek kisses Mulder on the cheek (after beating him up & dropping some serious alien-related knowledge on his ass). Too bad I am such a delicate flower with such little interest in hate sex & enemy 'ships. And there's not more pre-MSR Mulder/OMC ( Read more... )

The first slash I ever read in any fandom was Mulder/Krycek (Ghosts by torch, to be precise, which is a long, angsty, character study/case fic), so despite the fact that I'm a hardcore MSR fan, I've always had a soft spot for M/K.

I LOVE that Mulder & Scully were friends and partners first, and in such a way that "more than friends" seems like a ridiculous concept when applied to them. It was the squirrely, half-assed and yet excessive way it all went down that serves as a cautionary tale, I think.

YES to all of this. Mulder and Scully's partnership is basically one of my favorite things in all of pop culture, but the way Carter and the writers handled the move into a romance was so haphazard and weird that I almost wish that they hadn't bothered and had just left the romance to fanfic writers.

Except that resolving the sexual tension in Castle and Bones did kind of ruin those shows for me, although no show has ever imploded on itself like Moonlighting did. That meltdown was epic. The canon romance in Fringe was the least interesting thing about the show, but I was watching more for Walter Bishop's character arc anyway.

What a curmudgeon I am now!

If I posted some M/K slash to xf_book_club, is there any chance you might read and discuss it? I was thinking about posting Jane Mortimer's "The Same Everywhere." I think the M/K shippers like the sequel better but since I like the first story, that's what I'd go with. Krycek is really creepy and the fic has consent issues, but Frohike and Langley are there, which makes up for a lot. I love the Lone Gunmen.
