I am home from work, sick as all hell. My body aches, I have a decent fever (101.? at last check,) my chest is congested, I'm coughing, I'm exhausted all the time... yuck
( Read more... )
I've called in sick and then gotten sick (thus extending my sick time) more than once.
But I've never gotten sick just after merely *thinking* about calling in sick. And it sucks that you may actually be too sick to do what you wanted to do.
Can you dope yourself up with a ton of cold remedies?
Well, I can... and while that would make me feel better in the short term, it won't actually make me get better. I'm more of the mind to push through and let my body fight it by letting the symptoms help, even if I feel shitty.
Additionally, while I may be able to drug myself into feeling "ok" I A) also don't want to expose other people to this because it blows B) there's no guarantee the drugs will allow me to enjoy myself on the trip -- and being sick at someone else's house sucks big time. C) have lost my appetite, and tend to faint when I take cold meds without eating. Which was never that scary before, because there always have been people around. Now, though, I doubt my cat would be much help.
Thanks for the response and sympathy -- I appreciate it!
