Personally, I don't think that any kind of letter writing campain or petition will make a difference. What will make a difference is not buying News Corps papers or subscribing to Sky. As long as the Murdoch Empire has plenty of willing punters ponying up every week or month, they'll continue in their attempt at global domination. Until people ACTUALLY vote with their money, by unsubscribing, nothing will change.

I have boycotted all aspects of the print media press and of the Murdoch empire for many years as a result of a personal experience of which our mutual friend is aware.

That being said, if enough people shout, the politicos will at least be panicked enough to take action over privacy legislation and that is long overdue so my view is sign away! This government doesn't have much of a mjority and remains only under public sufferance so I think they'll be listening. Some things sicken even ghouls. :o/

The PCC needs to be taken out of the hands of the media barons and given real teeth.

Generally speaking, you're probably right; however I don't have any subscriptions to cancel. I don't buy a daily paper, and I don't have a TV, so I have nothing to withdraw. If I want my voice to be heard I have to find another method. I've signed the petition and sent a letter to my MP because like a lot of people I don't like what I'm hearing. I don't doubt that there's a lot we're not being told on both sides of the story, but based on what *is* being said, I'm more than happy to add my name to the petition. It may not do much good, but on the other hand it can't do any harm.
