John Finneman on BBC Radio 4's "The Now Show" first broadcast 7th July 2011.

A magnificent speech that must have been written on the same day as the closure of the News of the World was announced for broadcast the following day.

Excellent speech! I hope (possibly this time not against hope?) that some of TPTB do actually take note of what the great majority of the people must surely think, and don't allow News International to take over BSkyB.

Over a third of a million letters sent on that avaaz site now. Someone in the civil service has to read all of those (and they are required by law to be read in case of any challenge to Murdoch's takeover which has legal potential.

This would put back any decision weeks if not months even if it hadn't been called in by the Competition Commission.

I'm just glad hubby doesn't work in that department or I suspect I wouldn't be seeing much of him for some time!
