Summary: Foxface's fatal move.
Foxface's eyes were already clouded over, her green eyes no longer green, staring unblinkingly up into the sky, looking but not looking.
She couldn't have been dead more than an hour, but the rigor had already started setting in.
Katniss vaguely remembered Foxface's hair being tied back at the start of the games, but now her red hair was loose and free, matted with dried mud and leaves.
She was no bigger than Primrose, but she was quieter than a mouse, sneakier than a snake, making no noise whatsoever. Knowing exactly what she wanted, and knew how to get it, shrouding herself in the shadows, waiting for the right moment, never wanting confrontation. She was the epitome of stealth, she thought.
Katniss couldn't help but wonder that if her and Cato had been the last two, she definitely would've outsmarted him, always three steps ahead of him, like with everyone else.
Death by nightlock was so quick, she wondered if Foxface had time to realize that she'd made a mistake and grabbed the wrong berries. Her body shutting down immediately, a ghost of her last breath on her lips.
No one knows if they are sweet or bitter, since there is no one alive left after eating them to confirm that.
Even though it was quick and painless, it was not a sweet death.
