Summary: The library wasn't a safe haven anymore.
Hermione inhales sharply, the smell of dust and old parchment filling her nose. She almost sneezes, but the sensation goes away after a moment.
She'd been sitting at her favorite table in the library, studying for her ancient runes class, when she'd heard someone behind her cough meaningfully, as if to get her attention.
The library had become a bit dark, and at first didn't see anybody, but then she noticed a figure leaning against a shelf of astronomy books. It was Pansy.
She stood there with an air of superiority, a cruel gleam in her eyes. Pansy says nothing to her as she straightens herself, and saunters over to her, reeking of self-confidence.
Hermione turns her head away (hopefully not too quickly), trying to read where she'd left off, but her mind had stopped absorbing the words. Instead, she focuses on the soft 'thump' of Pansy's footsteps.
She knew Pansy wasn't worth the trouble, but it unusual for her to target her alone, without the other Slytherin girls.
Hermione suddenly felt Pansy's hands on the back of her chair, her breath smelling of butterbeer as she whispers to her, "Can't keep away, can you?"
Hermione felt her throat go dry, her voice tight as she asks, "What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about, Granger."
Hermione resisted the urge to turn around and look in her in the eye, but she didn't want to give her the satisfaction. "Go away."
"I'll be watching you. Closely."
