"I'm sorry to bother you with this..." Hannah starts, "but I don't know how to do the knot... Mom always did it for me."
Susan looks away, she doesn't want to see Hannah's face as she says those words; she knew it was painful. Hannah had just lost her mother in while she was there, in Hogwarts, safe... she couldn't look her in the eyes and tell her it'd be ok. She really couldn't. So instead, she focused on the knot.
"How do you do it?" Susan looks up from the knot finally and up at the girl's eyes. They looked like shattered glass, about to break into a million tears she was trying her best to hold back. "How do you... keep going on? Do you ever stop thinking about it? I... I don't know what to do anymore, I-"
"No" Susan denies, looking again at the tie. "You never stop thinking about it... I never stopped thinking about Aunt Amelia."
Hannah lets out a low noise that sounded like a tiny apology as Susan adjusts the knot to her neck; Susan had lost so much people to the Dark Lord and his followers, her uncle, her grandparents, her cousins... and now her aunt, Amelia Bones, one of the best witches Hannah had ever met.
"You never forget... you just keep on" Susan says, once she's finished with the tie, looking up at her with the saddest look Hannah had ever seen. "You keep going on, for them."
