Drabbletag 5 - Aerith/Tifa, ReunionWord count: 250
Summary: Tifa runs into someone she never thought she'd see again
Traverse town is the strangest place Tifa's ever been - a city of refugees, warm light in every window and streetlamps on every corner, a sky awash with sunset and twilight. They don't like shadows, here. The whole place feels precarious, like any moment she might look up and see the sky darkening, feel a cold wind sweeping in. She pulls her coat tighter, trying not to think of her own world before the Heartless came.
Two things are certain: she doesn't belong here, and she doesn't have anywhere else to go.
She turns a corner, stops dead in place. There's a woman at a cafe across the street with mako-green eyes, a pink ribbon in her braided hair. Just a resemblance, Tifa thinks at first, a trick of the mind, but the woman looks up, and the teacup she'd been holding shatters against the cobblestones.
Aerith - it can't be, but it has to be - stands, steps closer, calls her name. And then Aerith is running forward, and Tifa catches her in a fierce embrace, arms around her, close enough to feel breath and heartbeat.
"Aerith," she says, "you're - "
"Alive?" Aerith says, and she's smiling, but she shivers in Tifa's arms. "Doesn't matter much, here, either way."
And Tifa wants to ask about that, but all she can manage is, "I looked for you."
"You found me," Aerith says, and holds her a little tighter, stronger and more solid than a ghost should be. "Let's go home."
