Summary: Clarke did not have a family anymore...
A family was a unit of people genetically related (adoption didn't have its uses on the Ark). It was usually the two parents, one or more offspring. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.
Clarke did not have a family anymore. She'd never had the excesses of those not part of the immediate family.
She had a father once. But, he was long gone in the infinity of space.
And as far as Clarke was concerned with this topic, she didn't have a mother anymore, either.
There was a woman miles away in the dark sky, a traitor to her flesh and blood and the man she had loved. Once.
A mother shouldn't betray her child, Clarke thought harshly, the stars high above her looking dull somehow.
A traitor to her own thoughts, Clarke wondered when that woman had stopped loving her father.
Or worse, perhaps it did not matter any longer.
