It started out so well.
Before, they were roommates and more, sharing early morning kisses over orange juice and crawling into bed together at night. They told nobody, because there was nobody else to tell. Emma was guarded, Mary Margaret was isolated, all their relationships surface deep except the one they shared together.
Love grew between them, as they learned each other’s bodies and souls.
Emma had finally found somebody she trusted, somebody she could be vulnerable with. Somebody whose touch could both comfort and make her moan and shiver, somebody who loved every part of her. Mary Margaret was perfect for her in ways she never imagined.
And then the curse broke, and so did their hearts.
For Snow White was her mother, and that should have been the end. A secret, and a shameful one at that, but one to be buried in the past.
But they did not stop.
The secret became deeper, larger, more intense and more damning. Magic and lost memories were no longer to blame, not when Snow’s fingers twisted in Emma’s hair, when their mouths slid together hungrily.
Even as their friendships with others grew, as Snow remembered her people and Emma’s walls began to crumble, they would not tell. They could not bear to break the bond between them, and they knew nobody else could hope to understand.
And so their love remained behind closed doors, with the curtains drawn and their voices hushed. A secret grown between them, nurtured and cherished.
