It’s not much, to say she’s looked into a killer’s eyes before. Most people, they’ve done some terrible things.
Toast isn’t exempt from that.
She’d been rusty with a gun, when they were all running for their lives, the War Rig growling around them and Furiosa barking at her to change the clip. But the memories came back soon enough, from when she was a child, from before she caught Immortan Joe’s attention in all the wrong ways.
Toast knows how to handle a weapon, even after years of them being kept from her.
Not much to look into a killer’s eye, but with Furiosa it’s different.
She doesn’t fear Furiosa, never has. She doesn’t forgive her the lives she’s taken, because Toast never damned her in the first place.
Toast looks into Furiosa’s eyes, and she sees a woman who sacrificed everything she had, the life she’d carved out for herself, to help five strangers. Toast looks into Furiosa’s eyes, and she sees salvation and the hope they all swear doesn’t exist.
Toast looks into Furiosa’s eyes, and she gets a damn crick in her neck.
“Why are you so fucking tall?” she murmurs, and Furiosa smirks, crowds closer. Shoving Toast back against the pile of sheets and crates she calls a bed, and then she’s covering Toast’s entire body with her own.
Surrounding her, with heat, the scent of metal, and Toast forgets looking in Furiosa’s eyes in favour of fucking her hips up for that sweet friction.
