The family is sitting around the living room watching a movie but Alice isn’t paying any attention to the movie. The whole rest of the world fades away because she’s snuggled up to Esme and Esme is absently playing with her hair.
The touch is intoxicating and she never wants it to end. She wants to stay in this embrace for the rest of forever. Esme’s fingernails scratch over Alice’s scalp; she barely resists the urge to moan appreciatively.
Esme leans down and presses a kiss to the top of Alice’s head and Alice can’t stop smiling.
This is heaven.
