The sheep used to be her only friends in this small, close-minded town. These days, even they don't always listen to her, but Belle can't complain. They race pass her this morning as she's trying to read, baaing loudly. Laughter and words in a strange tongue follows them. Belle makes a point of not looking up as the woman whips pass her, chasing the sheep.
The Gypsy turns back, realizing Belle's nose is still in her book. She tip toes over, grabs Belle's book, and pulls it down. She kisses her quickly, bringing gasps from the windows from whence they're already being watched.
"Esmerelda!" Belle cries in disbelief.
The Gypsy winks. "You're it now," she tells her and chases after the sheep.
Belle watches them run ahead of her for a moment before realizing that Esmerelda took her book with her. "Esme!" she cries, laughing and finally gives chase. The town will gossip forever about her and the playful beauty who dared to kiss her in broad daylight. Let them talk, Belle decides. At least now she's got a story worth talking about -- or writing. She grins. Maybe one day she'll write their story herself.
Then she pushes away all thoughts of books, something others have tried to persuade her to do for years but have never succeeded. She tackles Esmerelda in the meadow just outside town as the sheep baa and frolic around them. Esmerelda kisses her again, and Belle is only too happy to leave the world behind.

Cinnamon reminds her of the taste of her best friend's lips. It simultaneously makes her tail wag, her heartbeat quicken, and her tail want to slink between her legs, because she knows what always follows after all the kissing is over. She knows Mary Margaret always returns to her husband, just as Snow never gave up on her Prince.
They could have had a happy ending, their own happily ever after, Ruby thinks as she smells the scent wafting from her grandmother's kitchen. She knows her granny means well, but the old woman can't possibly understand what it is to love some one who will never return that love in full. Why, she'd never even understand that Ruby's heart belongs to a married woman!
Part of her wants to run, but there's nowhere to run to. Lately, whenever she romps through the woods, she always ends up underneath Mary Margaret's window, and it's only a matter of time before she's found there if she keeps waking up there. David still doesn't know the truth about their relationship, and she doesn't want to hurt him, even though he's part of what's hurting her so badly.
Ruby sighs and looks away as Granny approaches. The old woman sits their cups of cinnamon-tinted hot chocolate down on the table before taking the seat across from her. "Ruby," she begins, but her granddaughter won't look at her. She reaches across the table and forcibly takes her hand, bringing her gaze to look at her at last. "I know you think I won't understand, but I do. I loved a woman once, too."
Ruby gapes openly at her. "You, Granny?" she asks and listens in awe as her grandmother's tale begins. Her story is not unlike her own, and by morning's light, Ruby understands. There's not just one broken heart in this cafe; there's two.
