“So he proposed to you?!”
“It’s not like I said yes!”
“It’s not like you said no either!”
“Piotr and I aren’t even dating, and yet the big lug asks me to marry him!”
“Yeah, and you act all happy about it!”
“Maybe I am happy, Rachel, for once, but that doesn’t mean he’s the reason! Things are actually starting to go right for a change, and if I’m happy with the romance in my life, don’t you know that’s because of you and not him?”
“Maybe, but they don’t!”
“Don’t tell me you want to come out of the closet now!”
Rachel drops to her bed, her head in her hands. “I don’t know what I want.”
“How about telling me when you realize what it is?”
“You’re the one who talks about all this ‘going forward’ stuff -- “
“Yes, I do with the team, with mutant rights, with the Professor’s dream, our dream.” Dropping to her bare knees before her, Kitty gently pries Rachel’s face from her hands. Looking up into her beautiful eyes, she tells her, “And if you’re ready to go forward with our relationship, I’m happy to do that if you’re sure. Whatever you want, I’m ready to give it to you -- “
Rachel groans, but Kitty silences that groan with a kiss into which she readily melts. The problem, she realizes, is she doesn’t know what she wants except this wonderful woman in her life. She still can scarcely believe she’s lucky enough to have that!
