They have always been bonded, heart and soul. Willow has had many lovers over the years, but she’s only ever had one soulmate. It comes to no surprise to her that it is her beautiful face that floats to her as if on a dream when her hair has long been white not from power but from age and her eyes are closed. She is at last ready to go from this world, and of all those who could come for her, Tara is the one to meet her on the bridge.
“It’s beautiful,” Willow whispers, turning slowly, intently surveying all the glittering, rainbow colors.
“So are you,” Tara whispers with a shy smile.
Willow turns immediately back to her. “I’ve missed you,” she says, holding out her hands.
“I know,” she answers, gently squeezing those hands. “I knew every time you visited me, every time you thought of me. We’ve always shared a soulbond. I’ve known your every thought since I left you on that plane. The new Witches will keep that willow tree growing nicely.”
Willow blushes. “I wasn’t sure if you’d like it so close to your grave.”
“Of course I liked it, sweetheart.” She pulls Willow into her arms. “What is there not to like about being under my favorite Willow tree? And now I get to spend eternity in her arms!” Tara kisses her, long and deep. They float together over the Rainbow Bridge, together and at peace at last and always, always in love.
