The reference-voice of the Queen was gone; Seven was stricken. It took everything to breathe, to see the horror of her existence with human eyes: tubules, wires, metal-in-flesh.
When she decided to accept this newness, it was not the Captain who unplugged her fears and replaced them with wonder. The half-Klingon with the machine-loving hands preoccupied her instead.
She became a focus point to Seven’s Hive-deprived brain: a precious connection.
First, it was a one-sided shouting match about sensor arrays; then debates at her alcove. Brief touches became violent trysts, and Seven would revel in B’elanna’s untried languages of affection.
