“You know, I saw you drop the spirit stick earlier.”
Missy raises an eyebrow as Darcy approaches.
“You did, huh?”
Darcy nods.
“You know about the curse, right?”
Missy perches on the edge of the table.
“I’ve heard of it.”
Darcy moves closer and traces the RCH on Missy’s uniform, Missy can smell her expensive perfume, mixed with the cheap booze Jan smuggled in taped to his inner thigh.
“There’s a way to break it.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mmmhmm.”
“And what would that be, Ms Darcy?”
“Well, I don’t remember the exact wording, but it’s something along the lines of ‘Any curse and/or hex placed upon a poor unfortunate cheerleader may only be broken by true love’s kiss’.”
“That’s in the cheerleading handbook, is it?”
Darcy shrugs and looks at Missy through her eyelashes.
“Well, it’s in my copy.”
“Good enough for me.”
Missy hooks her finger into the waistband of Darcy’s skirt and pulls her forward, their mouths meeting hungrily, Darcy’s fingers tangling in Missy’s long hair. They part, panting.
Keeping her eyes locked with Darcy’s, Missy reaches behind her and brings out the spirit stick. She grips it firmly and brings it down hard on her knee, snapping it in two.
“Shit. I’ve broken the spirit stick, that’s gotta be a way worse curse. D’you know any way out of this one?”
Darcy sighs and shakes her head. Then leans in close to Missy’s ear.
“Meet me in my room in five minutes. We’re in for a lengthy night.”
