"Zoe, you can't just avoid the subject forever," Kaylee says again, and Zoe's so sick of hearing it, from Mal, from Kaylee, from gorram Jayne of all people.
"You have to talk about it," Kaylee says, and Zoe is off of her (their) bed and across the room in moments, pressing Kaylee against the wall and her mouth to Kaylee's, trying to shut her up and show her she's moved on, at least a little, at that same time. She's surprised when Kaylee responds, sliding her tongue into Zoe's mouth, putting her hands on Zoe's hips and grinding into it, and no one's touched her in months, and Zoe needs this, and since Kaylee's a friend, they end up on her bed, kissing and touching and mouths and hands, tangled in the blankets, pressed so close Zoe's trying to remember where she ends and Kaylee starts.
"You can't avoid it forever," Kaylee says gently, once they've recovered, afterwards, and they're lying together naked in an embrace more friendly than lover-like, and Zoe starts crying, ready for a second release.
