Title: Girls' School
Author: sheepfairy
Prompt: Drabbletag - playtime after school is out, as requested by selenay_x
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Pairing: Laura/Maya
Rating: G
Word count: 250 (yay for contractions!)
A/N: I keep thinking that somebody has answered this prompt, but I hope I'm good! And the title is stolen from a totally unrelated Rasputina song.
Summary: Laura looks forward to her free time.

There is no bell in her shabby school tent, but the children tend to start giving the clock above the board pointed looks when it’s time to go. Thanks to her long experience teaching children, she knows that it’s worthless to try and teach them anything once they've got scent of freedom. She closes her book, and they take their signal to start streaming out.

She loves teaching, but after all day with them she is a little relived to see them go. It gives her time for those who are closer to her heart.

"Guess what time it is?" says Maya as she lightly bounces the baby up and down in the corner of the room. "It's play time with Laura!" she exclaims, and Isis makes a cooing noise in response.

"Oh, but Isis isn’t going to be around for playtime today," says Laura, and Maya raises an eyebrow at the blatant innuendo in her voice.

"Really? And who are you expecting to look after her?" she asks.

"I bribed Tori into doing it.”

"How'd you manage that? Tori hates kids."

"Well," replies Laura, leaning in so that she's whispering right into Maya's ear, "I may have made her certain... promises."

"Tramp," teases Maya.

"Don't you know it," says Laura as she leans in for a kiss, and it’s pleasant even though the baby in Maya’s arms makes it slightly awkward.

"Why don't you go drop her off?" says Maya. "I'll be waiting for you when you get back."
