Summary: For Rosalie, battle is not just about fighting those who oppose you.
It is a game, where bloodlust is the driving factor. Victoria, it seems, sees things the same way.
In her mind, she kept coming back to that moment, wondering how the world would have been different if she had not acted like she had. That moment where the entire world consisted of Victoria, frozen in the air, leaping towards her. Her face had been screwed up in a snarl, her teeth out and ready to strike.
But when she had landed on Rosalie's chest, throwing her to the ground, her previous motives seemed to have...changed. The bloodlust was still there, but it was more playful than when she had been fighting with the other vampires. They had wrestled on the ground, each trying to get on top of the other. Victoria had managed to get in a few punches to the neck. Her throat burning, Rosalie had grabbed the now dirt-covered vampire by the neck and tried to rip her head off.
It was instinctual. She hadn't known then what would happen when she looked into those dull red eyes. If she had, maybe she would have finished her off more quickly.
But Rosalie had always liked playing with the person she was fighting before finishing them off. There was no fun to be had in a simple beheading. Her brothers didn't understand the thrill she got from being able to properly let her emotions rip without having to worry about hurting anyone.
In battle, you saw people for who they really were. So when she took one final look into Victoria's eyes, fully ready to finish her off, she was intrigued by the fact she was smiling. Victoria made no move to rip her hands away and continue fighting. No, in her eyes, Rosalie could see a challenge.
Will you kill me now? Or will you take a chance and let us have the fun of fighting another day?
Did she care enough about her family to kill her? Not exactly. All bloodlust gone, she felt instead by a wonderful, wonderful feeling of opportunity.
If she didn't do something, and quickly, she would be seen as a traitor to the whole family. So, she angled her face and leaned in to whisper into Victoria's neck, "Tomorrow. Same time, same place. Be quiet about it."
She couldn't do it with Alice. She couldn't do it with Esme. She certainly couldn't have done it with Bella.
With Victoria, she never had to worry about killing. Danger was her friend. That was what bloodlust was all about, wasn't it?
