Ruby’s always thought of Regina as being like a rose - stunning to look at, but with thorns.
Granny’s Diner doesn’t officially offer deliveries, but there are always exceptions made for the Mayor. So Ruby’s delivering lunch to Regina’s office when she notices the flowers on the desk.
Roses, naturally, a deep dark red, the exact shade as Regina’s lips.
“They smell beautiful, don’t they?” Regina says, noticing the way Ruby’s gaze catches on the flowers.
Ruby gives a tight smile. She’s never quite sure where she stands with Regina. But she leans forward and inhales the perfumed scent, fingers angling the stalk so the blossom cranes towards her face.
She yanks her hand back when a thorn stabs into the pad of her thumb, and there’s a droplet of blood already welling against her skin.
Regina clicks her tongue, and for a moment Ruby thinks she’ll laugh or make some scathing comment about Ruby’s intelligence.
Instead she reaches forward, murmuring, “Here, let me see.”
Ruby extends her arm slowly, and Regina’s fingers slide around her wrist. Pulling her closer, raising her arm, and Ruby can’t contain her gasp when Regina opens those rose-red lips around Ruby’s thumb. The inside of her mouth is so warm, but it has nothing on the heat in her eyes.
Ruby feels herself blushing, heart beginning to race.
Regina smiles around Ruby’s thumb, sucking at the skin lightly, and Ruby moans softly, eyes fluttering closed, ready for the moment to forget about Regina’s thorns.
