Summary: Padma found her strange in a different way.
From what Padma had observed, Luna was certainly not fragile. People might have thought otherwise, especially since she seemed vulnerable to tricks, but Luna took it in a very lighthearted way. She didn't seem bothered by it at all.
Others knew of her mother's death, but they didn't seem to care at all. Even Luna herself never looked sad, really. Just curious about anything.
Padma once recalled on her way to Charms class, that Luna had once found a button on the ground, and looked at it with a child-like wonder, as if she'd found a piece of treasure.
Luna seemed more interested things like that and talking to imaginary creatures, than her classes, despite her innate intelligence.
It wouldn't surprise Padma if Luna was smarter than her, but she'd rather not dwell on such a thought.
Despite her own interest in Luna, Padma has no desire to befriend her. It's just how things were.
