The reception was winding down.
Mulan came up behind Aurora and put her arms around her wife's waist.
Regina and Emma were swaying together on the dance floor to a slow song alongside Snow and Charming. Ruby was slouched at a table and looked just a sip of wine away from passing out.
"I've got something to tell you."
The seriousness in Mulan's voice caused Aurora to turn, worry in her eyes.
Mulan smiled. Aurora was every bit the stunning bride. The white dress was sexy and refined.
Mulan was in her full dress uniform, it was smart with every thread perfectly in place. "I'm leaving the army, once I go back I'm being reassigned to a base up-state for four mouths then...I'm out."
Aurora was speechless. Her world took a shift and it suddenly felt like she was on a boat in a typhoon. "You're...really?" Her eyes widened as she realised that on this day her life had changed in more ways that she had expected.
"Yes," Mulan grinned.
Aurora threw her arms around her wife and they held each other tight. Aurora was already hyper-emotional just getting married to the woman she loved. Now she felt a rush of relief that she would never again have to say goodbye for months on end and wonder if Mulan would make it home again.
"Let's get the DJ to play something happy," Mulan said and led her wife to the dance floor.
