Her work wasn't big or important, not really. Grading 4th graders math tests weren't on the top of anyone's to-do lists, let alone her students. She could easily get all fourteen sheets graded and finished up in her lunch break with time left for spelling.
But Emma looked so pretty when she sulked, glowering like a sullen kitten at the papers spread across Mary Margaret's lap and the arm of the couch.
So Mary Margaret took her time, just to make Emma stew, grumbling to herself at the grave injustice that was Emma not receiving complete attention.
The moment she moved to the last worksheet to grade, freeing her lap, Emma sprawled across the couch to rest with her head on Mary Margaret's lap.
“Impatient,” Mary Margaret brushed her fingers through Emma's hair, leisurely looking over the worksheet.
“Work's over.” Emma mumbled, burying her face against Mary Margaret's stomach, breath warm against her skin where it inched her shirt up.
“I have grading.”
“Mine.” Emma groused.
“I'm almost done,” Mary Margaret said with a smile, taking more time than needed to look at each simple problem.
Emma let out a plaintive whine, nuzzling Mary Margaret's stomach and wrapping an arm around her to keep her close.
So cute when she sulked, so grateful when Mary Margaret 'abandoned' grading homework to focus on her.
Five more minutes, then she'd stop making Emma wait.
