As many of you probably already know, last night another canon lesbian was shot and killed minutes after a love scene with the woman of her affection. Understandably, many fans (and non-fans) of The 100 are hurt and betrayed by yet another tv lesbian being killed on-screen ( Read more... )

Are canon rule 63 characters allowed? For canons where there is a female version of a male character?

Examples
- Red Dwarf the characters meet their counterparts in another universe who happen to be women
- Persona 3 canonically has a male main character but a version was released with the ability to play as s female version instead
-Hetalia each character has an opposite gender version with some even appearing in strips

I AM SO FUCKING FURIOUS. And I didn't even care about Lexa, but I do care about how much damage they did to their teenage fanbase especially. I'm out for blood at this point, except with a headache from hell, and I just want to rip JRat a new one.

honestly? im feeling the exact same; lexa's fanbase was like 80% young teenage girls most of whom were seeing wlw onscreen for the first time in a vaguely (using the term liberally here given the ~other issues the show has in droves) positive light. I'm constantly sickened by the lack of fucks given about how traumatic it is to see the first character you identify with brutally killed.

I'm not sure I've ever been this mad at a single piece of media before.

The 100 has heaps of problems, agreed, and I've been disillusioned about it for a long while, but this feels like very deliberate, malicious violence. It's not necessarily worse than killing off Anya and Wells for shock value, but it definitely affects me personally more, because half my day was spent checking up on teenage wlw in fandom. I'm tired, I'm worried, and I'm not sure how to talk to those girls without sounding Very Old and Patronizing, but holy shit, some of them are half my age, and I KNOW that it'll get better for them. I know that real life, despite its shortcomings, is less violent than mainstream fiction we're fed. Almost all wlw I know grew out of this youthful despair, and live happily. But the message from media is the exact opposite, and I have no clue how to explain this discrepancy to someone who's upset. :(

I've only seen the first season of The 100, but I was so looking forward to Clexa. And now this.

I don't think I have a single femslash ship, canon or otherwise, in which both characters survive. What a disappointment.

I'm definitely going to make some banners now.
