Let's have an excellent recap!
Left work around 5 and headed towards Shin-Ookubo station where I met up with
lizstarsky to find the Globe Theater, which was only actually a few minutes' walk from the station, yay! We were early for the show, so we killed some time at the Lawson and Family Mart nearby filling our bellies with num-nums (well, Liz ate; I had pizza waiting at home and starved until I got back XD).
About 6:10, we made our way inside, and after a mixup with tickets at the reception desk, we walked in with our 9800yen seats (the most expensive ones in the house!)...on the 2nd row of the 2nd floor. Yes. And no, it wasn't sold out. That's just where we were sitting. There were quite a few seats open on the floor below >_> They weren't HORRIBLE seats, but they sure as hell weren't worth $100 XD;;;
The show itself was pretty good -- I'd never seen Applause before, so I'd looked it up on Wikipedia etc before I came so I wouldn't be lost most of the show. I was glad I did, because it let me enjoy the show better, I think. The rough gist is you have an older actress, Margo Channing, who takes a young wanna be named Eve Harrington under her wing. But Eve actually turns out to be plotting to take over her life and knock her from stardom and all (it's based on the movie All About Eve if you've heard of that).
Abe played a few bit parts--his biggest was "Bart" XD And Mizuki...
Oh Mizuki. OH ANIKI. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOU?? XDDDD
Mizuki played the friend, confidante, and GAY HAIRDRESSER to the lead actress. Yes. And boy did he pull the part off well >_> Very, very flaming, limp wristed, making eyes at other guys, grabbing other guys' crotches ♥ He was a real treat to watch XD You can see a youtube video of one of the songs he took part in
here--it's a rip from the English version shown on TV years ago, and he's got some speaking lines at the very beginning, from when Margo wants to go to a gay bar in Greenwich village that Duane (Mizuki's character) frequents.
After the show, Liz and I walked back to the station together, where we parted ways and I walked home. Walking down Okubo doori, I saw a ton of izakayas and restaurants, and it kind of hit me that the cast would probably have their uchiage right there, less than 5 minutes from my house XDDDDDD
Some shots of Mizuki from the pamphlet:
Check out the shirt he's wearing XDDDD (if you can't tell, it's one of the staff shirts from this year's HappyPani and has "*pnish*" written on the front, though it's a little small in this pic)
Sometimes I SWEAR he and Daiki aren't just brothers, they're TWINS *___*
I got to bed later Friday night than I wanted to, and so I was dead tired when I woke up the next morning at 6 AM, but meh, them's the breaks :D Woke up, showered, and got ready, then I hopped out the door for Shibuya. Met up with
hughes_maes around 7:45 at the Hachikou exit, from which we walked to Gain to wait around for Tenchou to show up so we could get numbers to go in for the
new Blossam shirts and badges ♥
We got #2 and 3, but the shirts wouldn't actually be on sale until 11, so from there we walked to Harajuku's NHK Hall for...a Kitty Guys street live! Met up with
starrbeam and
later_uk whom I didn't realize would be there (and they only got to stay for 20 minutes ;_;) Was then subsequently approached by a Japanese girl who asked if I remembered her--she looked familiar, definitely, but I couldn't place her face, and she revealed that she had been one of my classmates at NagaJo in our SUPER CURRY-MAKING GROUP :OOOOOO I hadn't really expected to see any of these girls again (or at least not til the November NagaJo event XD).
Some pics, first--

And
later_uk on the left and
starrbeam on the right!
The guys were great awesome fun as usual, and I took lots of pics and video. The pictures are about to go up on
kittyguys as soon as I post this, and the video will be up on youtube shortly, but not under my username--under the name kittyguysstreetlive, where all my videos of them will go up from now on.
Why?
BECAUSE THEY FOUND VIDEO OF THEMSELVES ON YOUTUBE XD;;;;;
During their "announcements" section of the live, they mentioned one of them had been surfing youtube the other day and had found, lo and behold, VIDEO! OF THEM! ON YOUTUBE! FOR PEOPLE TO SEE!! (incidentally, it was
this video) Yes, there was video of them on youtube now, from one of their street lives...
...and then they encouraged people to actually UPLOAD MORE. They felt it was better publicity, having videos up on youtube, than was "bad" for them as a group, and that if anything ever came up about it later on, they'd pretend they didn't notice and just turn a blind eye and let it happen XD;;; Dunno how much they'll actually be ABLE to do that if they ever become famous like *pnish*, but it's great that they realize the good things this kind of publicity can do rather than the fine line between legal and not that uploading walks *nods*
Incidentally, as soon as they started talking about video of them on youtube, my heart leaped into my mouth because...I was pretty sure that was a video *I* had put up (in the end, it turned out to be one
lavenderlilly had uploaded -- mine was to photobucket, but of the same song) and that meant...if KG got curious and checked out my profile, they would see two things:
1) That my name was Courtney and I was living in Tokyo. -- yeah, pretty sure Gaku might have a SMALL CLUE EXACTLY WHO THAT WAS.
2) All of the videos connected to my account, including the Tuti/Nagayan Anniversary montage, the "Pretty Fly For a White Guy" video ripping on Gaku, and oh I dunno ALL THE VIDEOS I'D UPLOADED OF THEIR FRIENDS' TV SHOWS AND PLAYS. UMM.
Granted there's always that worry; if *pnish* searched for themselves on youtube, it'd be even worse >_> I freaked out about this, calling around to try and contact someone after the show to at least take my NAME off the video, to no avail. When I got home, I realized that not only had my name been off my profile for a while, it wasn't even me who'd uploaded the video (and Beri's account wasn't linked to anything else, it just had the one video up, yay XD). CRISIS AVERTED.
Fandom almost ended yesterday, OOPS. So yes, long story short, MY KG videos will now be uploaded to a youtube account specifically for them :P
After this, we ran over to La Foret to try and track down just where the flyers would be set out for the *pnish* room event starting next week, but it wasn't open yet, so we wandered back over to Shibuya and harassed Tenchou when he finally opened Gain. I relieved him of a shirt and 3 badges, and
hughes_maes got some badges of her own~
When I picked up my badges, Tenchou asked what we thought about them, and I said they were really cute...and reminded me of the Decossam ones XD Which let me segue really sneakily into, "...So are they gonna put anything else out together soon?? :D" to try and get more info on the 4th child XD
He actually gave us some more concrete info -- that it's going to be like the 3rd child (reversible) but seemed to indicate that the patterns will be different. So yay!
Then we wandered back over to La Foret which was now open and snooped around inside the very out-of-our-price-range shops and found a few likely suspects for flyer-holders :)
With that out of the way, we went back to my place in Shinjuku where we picked up lunch at Lawsons and sat around watching On 5 and Gankutsuou for a few hours. As you can see, A VERY PRODUCTIVE AFTERNOON!
We were set to meet up with our usual Saturday night gang at 6:30 in Ikebukuro, so we decided to head over a few hours early and introduce
hughes_maes to the lovely Otome Road and Animate, Mandarake, and K-books. It was crowded, of course, but we still managed to sneak out of K-books with a super cheap first-press box of DL1st for her, yaaaay! At Animate we pre-ordered the new TeniMyu DVDs and ogled pretty stuff we couldn't afford, and after seeing what a madhouse Mandarake was at the time, we decided to spend the last half hour or so waiting in Toukyuu Hands, a huge anything-and-everything store that's a lot of fun to just browse.
And it was there in Toukyuu Hands that we found the MOST AWESOME BAG on the sporting goods floor, but as it was over 10,000yen, I held back from buying it and just took a picture ;_;
I still kinda want it >_> *practices self-restraint* TUTI WOULD BE PROUD ;_; Hell, I should get it for HIM for his 30th birthday >_> Actually...that doesn't sound too bad...hmm... (someone tell me it's a bad idea :P I mean, I could even make the bag part yellow instead of pink, or any other color. But the man is definite a bad mofo...)
We had dinner at the Italian restaurant La Pausa, which was taaaaasty as usual, and then we karaoke'd for 2 hours at Big Echo, where
hughes_maes enjoyed her first time karaoke-ing in Japan and LOVED IT! We definitely need to go back again and just sing a ton of TeniPuri and TeniMyu songs XDDDD
Today is Sunday and I'm now recovering from the weekend and not wanting to go back to work Monday :P Bah, but what else is new?? :D
