Sense8 Finale ... a squee!
2hrs 20mins was never going to be enough time do all the characters and threads justice, but within the limitations a fantastic job was done, I think.
I really enjoyed it. I had to keep pausing play to collect myself and jot the odd note, but this is a little post of squee for one thing in particular ...
Rajan/Kala/Wolfgang, oh YES!
Right from the beginning of S01 I had to warm to Rajan (and in some ways to Wolfgang, too). Much about Rajan's courtship was problematic and I kept expecting TROUBLE there, but it it never materialized and in fact as more was revealed the more I came to like this love-struck and somewhat misguided human. I became more confident that his love was about as unselfish as love can be and that if Kala ever made up her mind definitively and rejected him he'd bow out gracefully whilst still rooting for her future happiness.
I also began to hope that the more they actually learnt about and got to know each other that they'd eventually fall in love mutually. Then maybe we'd end up with a Kala/Wolfgang, Kala/Rajan triangle (with all points being on good terms). Then there was a moment in, I think, S02 when a thing happened and I thought: Could this be headed for a THREESOME? (Yes, please!)
Most of the 8's loves are pretty 'at first sight' affairs (or first fight in Mun's case, hee!), so a different path to love, something a lot more slow burn was something I was hoping for. Because we never know the whole of a person in an instant. Of course, if that was the plan from the beginning (S01) it lost out a fair bit for being truncated, but I'm still happy it's what we got. And I have so many other thoughts I can't articulate just yet, ungh!
So, yeah, Rajalabang <3
