But close enough... and proud to be a basic account!
Granted, it may demonstrate the fact that I don't care about icons -too old to be swayed by the number of 100x100 pictures I can store online, maybe- or that I don't care about the background color of my f-page or my overwhelming moral failings, but I don't care!

LJ's owners are all such arses, aren't they? It's a business, they make business decisions but then they're too stupid to say "hey! We can keep up free accounts but only if we can prove to our advertisers that we're increasing the opportunities to view, so sorry chaps, Basic is history." and then stand the music. Oh no, they have to do their usual letting the news slither out on its own and then try a truly moronic excuse - "We don't do it for the money! We doing it because it improves the user experience! Three choices were just too intimidating." - when they get called on it.
Really, whoever their marketing manager is, is a blot on my profession.
Edited to correct syntax. Indignation =/= good grammar!

I think it was someone on metafandom who pointed at that inertia rules ok, and that what's moved fandom (from usernet to yahoo groups to LJ) has been technological advancement, and it would likely take the same to move from LJ. She's probably right.
You know, I love what LJ offers in terms of posting and communities and flists and interaction that the old Yahoo groups just can't come close to. I just don't feel very welcome here any more.
have a consistent and flexible archiving policy!
Ha! I just put the new SGA one up on the Dome, at Skyhawke, Area 52 and Wraithbait - and I had to do it four different darn ways. Will grumble myself off to breakfast now as a reward.
Cheers!

Though not exactly unexpected...

Argh. It is greatly appreciated though, because accessibility is such an important aspect of fanfiction. Thank you again!

I was tempted to get an HD DVD player and an flat screen TV just to be able to watch it in Hi-Def, but then sanity reasserted itself. Whew!

You realize that last part stretches credibility, at least my
credibility too far. May I suggest that what you meant may have been closer to 'but then I decided to give myself a few more months to talk my hapless family into agreeing to such a purchase'?
Just come clean and admit the truth, you'll feel better!
