i wouldn't say i KNOW latin - it's been 3 years, but i suppose if it were me and your average person staring at a latin phrase, i'd have a better idea of where to start translating...maybe

Isn't this just a testament to the really poor job high school foreign language does?

You'd think if you took a language class for 3 or 4 continuous years you'd have enough knowledge to get by if necessary. But no. I kind of feel really bad about this. This really hurt the most when I was actually in Spain. It was at this point that I realized I may have wasted 3 those years high school.
Sigh.. the things you'll do to put on your college applications...
