-Rearrange my space to be more conductive to work. -This also includes setting up an area for me to tack or tape up good things like this so I can read them occasionally

When I saw this my brain immediately latched onto LESSON PLANS was confused and for just a split second I wondered, "Is zie encouraging me to do my homework in a very odd way?" Then I read the rest and was both :D/D: because "teaching disadvantaged kids" = AWESOME and lesson/curriculum plans = YIKES! But I HAVE A FAITH! Plus you're not getting graded so pressure is less terrible.
I assume you are teaching art? Please provide details my teacherly compadre! I am but a language teacher but if you need any advice regarding lesson/curriculum construction feel free to ask, they are topics I am well-versed in.
WHY YES!!! As you may or may not know (I do not remember), I have been volunteering at a local neighborhood urban arts center, and was asked to teach a class in January and Februrary regarding the SACRED ART OF COMICS. Age range 7-18.
The tricky part is that I only have them for an hour a week, for eight weeks. AND it is open door, so I may not always get the same students. Meaning I need to keep them interested and coming back!
My initial idea was to structure each class on a genre (like superheroes, or newspaper gag strips), which I don't think is bad, but my exact parameters were maybe too constricting. And what if a kid hates that genre? Do I just say "okay do something else?" That's no fun. That and I wish I could stop time and ~imbue all my wisdoms~ to them.
SO HERE IS THE IDEA I HAVE, INSPIRED BY lenainverseI will pick a topic for each class, and have a short class discussion on the topic. Then let talk about how what kinds of formats will be most appropriate for their ideas, and storytelling techniques to help
