Smallville 7.1 - Bizarro
Y'know, Smallville begins and I actually, physically cringe, just waiting for this show to hurt my feelings. Which it did, a little, and will no doubt continue to do all season long. Still, imagine my surprise at being able to compile a list of things I LIKED about the ep!
First, SHIRTLESS CLARK. Seriously, I thought we'd never see that, again. THANK YOU, SHOW.
The symmetry of another Kryptonian rescuing Lex from a submerged vehicle.
Lex's goofy reaction to her. Lex's genuine grief over Lana. (Even though I myself don't give a damn.)
On the show, as in fic, I have a special love for the strength-from-sunlight thing. And I thought it was done to cheesetastic perfection, tonight.
I kinda liked Erica. I don't even know what to do with that. Lois' grief over Chloe is a sharp contrast to the whole flirting over her grave thing three years ago. Ditto Chloe's grief over Lana and Lana's non-existent grief back then.
I loved AMack, of course, especially with Welling. The scene in the morgue felt strangely un-SV-like, but it was one of my favorites, and Clark taking the tag off her toe was creepy-sweet, heh. I also liked their obligatory research scene --
"This guy can fly?!?! God, Clark, you gotta get on that one!" Hee!
And I liked their final scene, especially Chloe's inability to talk to Clark about what happened to her.
Okay, I squealed out loud at CLARK AND LEX IN JAIL HELLO!
"It's what you've always wanted... Isn't it, Lex?" YES OMG. Tom was SO HOT in that scene. His voice on "just a few cells", and Clark scolding Lex: "Redemption doesn't suit you." LOVE.
Clark coming out of superspeed right into crouching over Lex was also nice :)
Clark blah blah "I love humans and I'm not sorry" whatever. But Clark recognizing that he could become a monster (and relating to Lex in the process, heh) was cool.
Minimal Lana. (Although what little there was hurt my soul.) Minimal Lionel. (I'm so over him.)
As usual, many many things didn't track, but we're used to that. Luthor security still sucks out loud.
Last and most, this show is still very, very pretty. I just might make it through this season without crying ;)
