My wife was kind enough to indulge my penchant for video games this evening by helping me unpack and set up the Rock Band 2 Special Edition box.

Oh, how fun! We have Rock Band 2 (with the Rock Band 1 hardware) and we absolutely love it. I agree that drums are very hard! (And that bass is generally pretty easy... but I am a bass play, so I would say that.)

People on That List have said that the drums can fail to register hits if you don't hit hard enough - so I'm planning on giving them a try - my wrists are quite a bit stronger than hers.

I'll happily hand over the bass track, the goal here is for her to have fun and not get frustrated :)

It turns out one of my friends programmed in the songs for the very first version of what eventually got named Guitar Hero.

Apparently he didn't think the product had much of a future. :-D

Heh, unfortunately, I think that if you're in the tech industry long enough you are bound to make a bad call like this sooner or later.

I remember in the bad old days of OS 8 thinking that much as I adored the Mac it would forever be relegated to at best a fringe role in the wider market place. I've never been happier about having been totally wrong :)

Yeah, and you know, I really liked this newfangled multimedia presentation thing called the "web" but I knew it would never catch on because it just needed too much bandwidth...
