Oh deer!

So today was looking like a nice day to run up to Buckie with deliveries and check on both my grannys, however. A deer ran out infront of me when i was only 2 miles out of aberdeen. it smash my grill and nakered a valve on my brake actuator, meaning i had bugger all air pressure to stop the van. thankfully the road was long and straight and the ( Read more... )

Surely you should have been able to drive the thing without the turbo though...

Ah, thats where u r wrong as the oil pressure pump is driven by power from the turbo. Without it the engine over heats and the oil then burns.

So yeah u CAN drive it without the turbo but it will wreck it.

Odd... dont really know anything about commercial vehicles, but I'd never expect the Turbo to be doing anything except forcing air into the cylinders...

Also, as its a turbo, you'll probably find that, it wont kick in unitll a minimum amount of revs, as its driven by the exhaust, seems bizzare to run the oil pump off air, when its not producing power all the time, means if you leave it running on idle, its not going to be circulating oil, and will bugger the engine too...
