i don't know what you mean, that your sequel doesn't have the "emotional gut-punch" as avacadolove's! i was practicaly tearing up by the end of this chapter alone! TT^TT it's so tragic.

I want to have the same emotional impact, so thank you very much! I wasn't sure at all what the reception was going to be to this, but all of this came out of my head and right into the page. Nearly all of the changes that I made were going back to check facts and line up the plot with things that happened in the show.

I think the universe owes Zuko a pony. And a world where his father had some terribly freak accident just after Azula was born (or maybe just after she was conceived), which is rather sad but redeemed!Iroh ends up Fire Lord, Zuko is the Fire Lord's cute little nephew and heir, and he and his pony have awesome adventures with the Avatar.

He does deserve a pony, or some recompense from the fact that his life sucks because of the family he was born into. I wish I could be naive and just believe in people, but a questioner must look for the truth. This is hard seeming writing, and really good.

When I run into situations where it's hard to believe what people can do, I try to distract myself with the good that people can do. It usually works out, but some days it's harder than others.
