Stopping smoking is the new diet?

As a side effect of not smoking I don't seem to want to eat junk food and am eating a much healthier diet. I now eat an apple a day, snack on sultanas, cook meals from scratch etc. Contrary to the myths on giving up smoking it seems that I may actually lose weight by giving up!

I know my Dad only put on weight (and I am positive this is true for everybody else) because he needed something to occupy his hands so he ended up eating loads (in his case, of mints). He then took up knitting, this gave him something to do with his hands. Once he'd knitted us all the most appalling jumpers he'd got over the hump and was OK again.
As you are already knitting I think you are most of the way there to not putting on weight.
