ok, so...because i'm just that cool, and it's now 5am, and i'm still up reading Harry Potter, making myself a(nother) cup of hot chocolate...
as of page 209......
there have already been 3 deaths.
(Bathilda Bagshot, Hedwig [!!!], and Mad-Eye Moody)
ok, a: killing Hedwig was WAY unnecessary, JKR. not that i was expecting this to be a happy book ("and the deathly hallows" doesn't exactly inspire images of rainbows and puppies), but still. Hedwig? that's just mean.
and b: damn, woman. you just waste no time, do you?
however,
mad props for the "fiddling around with goats" and the "unnatural, unhealthy interest" that dumbledore took in harry, via rita skeeter. the woman's a fuckface, and most likely pretty evil, but at least the addition of bestiality and NAMBLA-type "affections" make for some comic relief.
and since she brought out the vague references to bestiality and pedophilia, i still hold out hope that she'll turn Tonks into a big dyke. yeah, yeah, she's all hetero-married to lupin. but that could change. leaving a hetero marriage for a homo life partner (like, say, maybe a potentially widowed mrs weasley? sup, may-december relationships. or maybe hermione, if jkr kills off ron?) is small fries compared to the former two. the religious right hates her enough as it is - might as well throw some lesbianism in the mix. in the form of Tonks. yep.
what? a girl can dream.
so. what page are you on? i won't discuss it with anyone who's not as far along in the book as i am, for obvious reasons. but if you're up to 209, we can talk! (i'll update more once i'm further along, i'm sure.)
