Keep the Juniper open (to build credit history through length of account open). transfer the balance to either a)an existing credit card or b)a new one using a balance transfer option.
i agree. if juniper does not have an annual fee then there is no harm keeping it open...and if you keep up on some payments there is a slight chance you might get a credit card offer that includes a year free interest...or at least 6 months which is better than the Juniper card. Sometimes new cards come with no interest on balance transfers specifically but you will have to pay a small charge to transfer your account (usually 4 or 5% of the total...so like $70 if you transfered before making any payments), but that small charge is still hella cheaper than a 22% APR.
macs are amazing and though $1400 is a lot...you won't have problems. (my dell did the exact same thing...but it did it when only 3 years old).
I agree with everyone else--keep the juniper open, but transfer the balance to a card with a lower interest rate. As has been said, sometimes cards give you really keen offers on balance transfers too, and HAVING a credit card tends to get your more offers, and it strengthens your credit. Unless you have a ZILLION credit cards, your credit should be okay with keeping it open.
mac = lame.
I do not agree with the statement that you will have no problems with it. :-P Aaron is a mac person and I have seen nothing but trouble from his macs! GRR! And why are they so expensive?? Apple has a monopoly on macs! They charge so much because the yuppies will buy! EVIL!!
