Why are they striking? anonymous September 4 2007, 16:12:14 UTC
And um... I'm in a union. Which I frequently have mixed emotions about, but we almost went on strike a two years ago and I would have supported it, based on what they were trying to do to us with our accrued sick time.

hi - sorry if that was rude. :)

basically they are striking because the company they work for has gone bust (is in administration technically). They want assurances that no jobs will be lost, all pensions will transfer, etc. to whatever new company is involved..thing is, that as I understand it Transport for London has given them all the assurances they can while the company is in administration...two other unions involved have accepted the assurances given...these folks haven't...I dont think that you can give a cast iron guarantee in this situation...but that's what they are holding out for.

I know that some unions are needed...but this particular one is evil. Evil, I tell you.
