I wonder if the paintings are in truly chronological order. Me thinks they aren't, but I'm certainly not an art scholar.

I find it interesting that women in paintings in the most recent paintings are less realistic. Do you suppose that's because we have so many exactly realistic photos? That the urge to remember every fine detail in paint has subsided because of photography?

Observing the clothes I'd say that the faces aren't in the strictest chronological order.

That is a good question about realism in paintings possibly being supplanted by photography. Hm...

I'm pretty sure they're not in chronological order of subject matter - whether they are in chronological order of the date of painting is another matter altogether. The art nouveau and cubist stuff was all at the later end but I'd have to be much better at art history to give you any kind of an answer.

Why do you find it disturbing? I thought it was fascinating.

It is fascinating, and beautiful and I really appreciate the effort and time it took to put this together and I love how the faces morph into each other. But the faces are SO similar, so uniform, so homogeneous that I ended up feeling kind of weirded out. Is the standard of beauty that typecast for breeding age Caucasian women? I know the images were picked specifically for how they fit together but... it still left me feeling very strange.

And I wonder if it would be possible to do it with male faces? If so, I would be less bothered I think.

See, I was creeped out because it was sort like a bad acid trip. Cool, really cool, wow, okay, a little creepy but still wow....uh, this can stop now. It's really gone on too long. Why isn't it over yet? Can someone flick a switch here and turn this thing off?

Oh, yeah, it's not drugs, it's a computer. Have switch. Yay.

Yes, I love the "switch," both on and off. Also, the delete switch. Mmmm... delete....

Actually, the impression I was left with was, "Oh, somebody got some new Photo Morphing Software and a copy of Janson's 'History of Art'."

There was a morph of all the US Presidents from Washington to Obama which, to me, was actually a lot more interesting and moving.

I'd like to see that one with the presidents. I bet that was cool!
