When Will It Be Our Turn?

May 16, 2005 16:59

Today, while reviewing the Yahoo "In the News" docket, I discovered a title that ended my illusions of optimism: "Corporate America Pulling Back Pension Safety Net." I feel utterly dispirited. Read it here (http://news.yahoo.com/s/latimests/ ( Read more... )

you're very insightful and 9\10 times when you say something it makes me think for hours on end. the one time you said something that i totally disagreed with was...well ill just say...the word shallow was involved =P hehe. i would enjoy hearing more about your 'new age' theory. and what happened to that tent community?

Pick a day, perhaps pick a crowd too, and we will go down to Blackbird Bakery. I'll tell you all about it. Additionally, I will update at some point with more details. I would, however, really prefer to just discuss things with you in person.

As for the tent community... It isn't summer yet!

Matthew, I quite agree with Mara. I am impressed by your ability to make me think about something I've never thought about before. even though I read all your entries, they usually don't interest me very much. I did enjoy this one, though, and I am also interested in hearing about your 'new age' theory. I have no doubt that you have plenty to offer the world when it is ready for you.

You said, "The politics our parents play are not sufficient; they do not properly address the slew of problems which now, more than ever, define our world." You then proceed to list off a number of problems that I see as problems that are not new at all (except for the fossil fuel problem, that's pretty new); could it be possible that "the politics of our parents" was a unique hiatus to a backdrop of continuous political instability, massive totalitarian empires, absurd class gaps, and the likes ( ... )

I like your fervor, it makes for good discourse.

I have responses for your contentions, although I do agree with a lot of what you say. We should engage this in person, though, because some of your arguments don't actually clash with my opinions; I must have just posted unclearly.

What about a Forum on Thursday at 4:45? You pick the location and the crowd?
Get back to me.

You never cease to amaze me with your posts. I most commonly write about my day, I did this, I did that--silly stuff, really--and then I read yours and I'm dumbfounded.

Good for you that you want to make a difference. There are far too many people who have an opinion but are afraid to voice it.

Thank you, really.

You and I should talk together sometime. You should visit our Forum at the Bakery.

We should talk, although to be quite honest, I might feel dwarfed by your big words and ideas. I have thoughts going around up in my head--I swear--yet I can never quite figure out how to get them out. And even when I do, they sound trivial and...well, stupid.
