the meaning of life

As we walk through our lives, we hastily try to envision what we want just as we barely begin to accept what we have. Amidst the chaos, we occasionally collide with another, and it feels wonderful. For that fleeting moment, while the lingering eye-contact remains, our vague desires dissolve into a simple and complete understanding. In that instant ( Read more... )

I've been thinking about a postulate similar to the ideas you're talking about here. It would be better explained in person, so remind me to show it to you over winter break.

When we meet for some NapIE, we will plenty of time to discuss our ideas in full. If you feel comfortable putting them into text, at least in a introductory way, I'd be happy to begin that discussion digitally.

I read a Bhakti poem today in humanities and it reminded me of this idea. The first part of it talks about a swing placed between two trees that swings back and forth from unmanifest to manifest to unmanifest, then it explains the Self. The part of it that mattered most to me was the part at the end where it says, "Tabir saw this for 15 seconds, and it made him a servant for life."

Yes, I remember Bhakti poems. That excerpt does sound similar. I wonder why people feel the need to tie connection to God in order to give it meaning?

That moment does, yes. People will cling to the memory as if it is real. But it's gone forever.

I've had moments like that from time to time with various different people. You were one.

So I guess these are my observations inspired by numerous events, not one in particular.

Some people are repeat offenders; they collide into me again and again. They make the best lovers and friends.

That sounds like a scene from Crash.

That's a compliment, very eloquent.

I miss not living in the real world.
